GABRIELE DI FRANCO JAZZ ORCHESTRA

Jazz · Classical colours · Folk sensibility · Modern grooves

18 MUSICIANS. INFINITE POSSIBILITIES.

About

“In composition, as in life, every choice shapes meaning.”

The Value Of Choices is the 18-piece jazz orchestra created by Belgian-Italian composer, guitarist and conductor Gabriele di Franco.

Across eight original compositions, jazz tradition meets classical colour, folk sensibility and contemporary imagination. Voices, improvisation and finely balanced orchestral textures create music in which emotion and craftsmanship carry equal weight.

Every line has a purpose. Every silence breathes. Every choice becomes part of the story.

A CINEMATOGRAPHY
OF SOUND

Gabriele di Franco writes for personalities, not just instruments. The orchestra’s eighteen individual voices move between intimate detail and full-scale impact, with open spaces that let each colour speak.

THE ALBUM · OUT NOW

Released on 6 March 2026 by Challenge Records, the album unfolds as eight musical narratives about choice, doubt, memory, loss, transformation and creation.

Guest voices François Vaiana, Vanesa Diaz Gil and Lieselot De Wilde, together with electric bassist Federico Pecoraro, extend the orchestra’s palette and give story and sound equal expressive force.

REVIEWS

“A sonic narrative, a true cinematography of sound. The music is written with open spaces, like a commedia dell’arte of jazz.”

— Jazz Thing, Maxi Broecking

“Di Franco demonstrates precise control over sectional balance, confirming a writing style that rejects the obviousness of volume in favor of the intelligence of space.”

— Soundcontest, Diego Librando

“Narration, song and music become one.”

— Jazz Mania, Philippe Thirionet

“A complex, masterfully crafted work with a vivid narrative voice.”

— Musik an sich, Wolfgang Giese

“Incredibly exciting, and sonically outstanding!”

— Hören und Fühlen, Claus Volke

“Great music. Resembles the classic big bands of the swing era, but enriched with contemporary musical elements and themes from folk and classical music.”

— Music Emotion, Ruud Jonker
