' An intimate ode to the power of vulnerability '

‘Bord du Nord II’ is music to listen to with your eyes closed. Each song is a miniature landscape in which the listener can lose themselves, a soundtrack for their own cinematic moments. Vloemans' trumpet weeps and sighs, Cresens' accordion whispers stories, while the bass and piano form a bed of warm depth and fragile silence. The album is a pure ode to the power of vulnerability.

The project came about in 2008 after an inspiring stay in Paris and Vloemans' meeting with Gwen Cresens. Over the years, and in between countless other projects, the composer has continued to write for Bord du Nord. Today, that creative journey culminates in a new album, on which the duo is reinforced by the subtle touches of Dominique Vantomme and the deep, earthy sound of Lara Rosseel. The broad background of the group members creates a unique and organic mix of jazz, chanson, tango, klezmer, and classical influences.

“Melancholic, timeless themes that make time stand still. Melodies and arrangements that linger and stay with you. It's great that Bord du Nord is now starting a second life.”
