MODERN JAZZ · AUDIOVISUAL CONCERT
" MUSIC, IMAGES AND A SHARED FASCINATION WITH THE COSMOS ".
NOVA is a Swiss trio led by guitarist and composer Christian Zatta. Its music grew from a shared fascination with astronomy: the idea of translating planets, stars, galaxies and the scale of the universe into sound.
Zatta’s compositions bring modern jazz together with progressive rock, open improvisation and cinematic textures. Bassist Thomas Tavano and drummer Florian Hoesl give the music its dynamic character, moving freely between detailed arrangements and spontaneous interaction.
NOVA performs in jazz clubs and concert halls, as well as in multimedia venues and planetariums, where the band’s visuals can be projected behind the musicians or across a 360° dome.

MODERN JAZZ · VISUALS · COSMOS
Christian Zatta, Thomas Tavano and Florian Hoesl bring composition, rhythm and improvisation together in a trio with a clear identity. The arrangements provide direction, while every concert leaves room for the musicians to respond to the space, the audience and one another.

THE MUSIC
COMPOSITION.
IMPROVISATION.
SPACE.
Christian Zatta’s compositions form the basis of NOVA’s music. Written themes develop into open improvisations, layered textures and rhythmically powerful passages, with guitar, bass and drums in constant dialogue.
Astronomy provides the subject matter, but the music never attempts to illustrate scientific ideas literally. Instead, it uses them to explore scale, movement, uncertainty and the unknown.

FEATURED ALBUM
THE PERSISTENCE
OF MYSTERY
NOVA’s third album contains six original compositions written by Christian Zatta and arranged by the trio. Each piece takes an astronomical mystery as its starting point: a phenomenon that remains unexplained, only partly understood or seemingly paradoxical.
The album also reflects a more human experience—the loss of certainty and the need to adapt when reality develops differently than expected.
